Favorite Endings Based on Screenplays —>Good Will Hunting
I’m not really the biggest Matt Damon, Ben Affleck fan, but this is a terrific screenplay through and through. I love that Will uses what Sean said to him earlier on about his wife. And for an overall pretty dramatic movie, I was really happy with a light, feel good ending even though it is a bit cheesy, I admit. Also I just love how everyone in the ending sort of just smiles to themselves like they all just get it.
Absolutely loved this scene. Thought it was almost sad in some ways when you see Ben Afflecks character realise his friend is gone, but then in the same breath you see him realise that Damon’s character listened to him and is off to better things. As for Robin Williams, well, we could all do with a version of his character in our lives.
The best part of this scene is Robin Williams’ last bit of dialogue that isn’t in the script: “Son of a bitch stole my line.”
