2012 HEFFE'FILM'IN
This year we’re doing a little something different with HEFFE’FILM’IN, which if you don’t know, is the monthly screening the SLCFF does in conjunction with BREWVIES Cinema Pub (677 S. 200 W., 21+) in Salt Lake City. It’s the first Wednesday of each month at 8PM.
After spending 2011 with forgotten classics and little known gems, we decided to switch gears...
WANT TO WORK FOR THE SALT LAKE CITY FILM FESTIVAL?
The SLCFF is back in full swing for 2012, but we’re going to need your help.
We’re looking for dedicated, hard working interns to help make this year’s festival as successful as we possibly can. Internships are unpaid positions, but as we position ourselves for the future, it’s very possible that somewhere down the line these could lead to a part time or even full time job...

Organized by a small crew of regular guys and gals from around our town, there’s an incredibly warm, inviting feel to the festival that visitors have...

FESTIVAL UPDATE AND HEFFE'FILM'IN THIS THURSDAY
Hi everyone!
Hopefully your summer is off to a good start, over here at the SLCFF headquarters, ours definitely is. We’ve been carefully combing through all of our submissions for this year, moving things around and making sure our 2011 line up is our best yet. We’ve got a lot of things already in place and hope to have a preliminary schedule ready to go by mid-July so everyone can...
SONS OF PERDITION PREMIERES TOMORROW (JUNE 2) ON...
If you’ve followed the SLCFF at all, you know that one of the highlights of last year’s festival was the documentary about a group of teen boys exiled from their home on a Polygamous compound called SONS OF PERDITION. It’s a fantastic documentary with lots of Utah ties and we were thrilled for the directors, Tyler Measom and Jennilyn Merten, when it was picked up by Oprah...

RECORD STORE DAY - 4/16/11
This Saturday (4/16/11) is Record Store Day. You all know what that means, right? If not, let me fill you in. It’s a day when a bunch of bands release (usually) limited vinyl to get people off the Internet, away from iTunes, out of their houses and down to the few local record stores that are still in business. This year there are a ton of great releases and a little something for...

popculturebrain:
Martin, creator of Game of Thrones, recently made some comments about not wanting to “pull a Lost” with Thrones (aka fuck up the ending). Lindelof, creator of Lost, wasn’t too pleased and fired back on Twitter. Nerds everywhere feared a coming civil war.

HEFFE'FILM'IN! THURSDAY!
How are you planning on celebrating St. Patrick’s Day? Since we know most people celebrate by drinking beer, why not come down to BREWVIES CINEMA PUB and celebrate with us?
We’re showing the Sci-Fi classic STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KHAN this Thursday at 10 PM and it’s free! That leaves more money for you to spend on wings and drinks.
And if you don’t want to celebrate...

ANYONE DOWN AT SXSW?
If you are, let us know what’s good.
Bands, movies or anything else awesome. We want to be in the loop from back here in SLC.
Not necessarily things like this though. We don’t care about that.
WE WANT TO WATCH YOUR FILM
Did you know that the Salt Lake City Film Festival is currently accepting submissions for this year’s festival?
Well we are. And we want to watch your movie.
So click the Without A Box logo in the upper right hand part of our website (if you’re looking at this on your dashboard, go to the actual website) and send it to us.
We’re waiting.

TED HOPE'S '32 QUALITIES OF BETTER FILMS'
Ted Hope is a producer with an extensive resume. He works mostly on lower budget, independent films and is a staple of all the regular film festivals. He was at Sundance this year with MARTHA MARCY MAY MARLENE, a film that got relatively strong reviews across the board. He’s also produced such films as IN THE BEDROOM, HAPPINESS, FRIENDS WITH MONEY, AMERICAN SPLENDOR and 21 GRAMS. He’s...
NEW DIGS
Finally got our website functioning as a real website—a little behind our intended schedule, but better late than never, as they say.
We want to thank Pamela, our gracious web designer for working fast and furious to bring us up to speed for the new year. We’ve got some great things planned for the 2011 SLCFF and can’t wait for everyone to see what they are.
For now though, the...

THE NEXT GENERATION OF INDIE FILM?
Everyone has to have heard about Kevin Smith Vs. The World by now, right?
If not, I’ll fill you in quickly: Kevin Smith (CLERKS, CHASING AMY) was at Sundance with his new horror movie RED STATE. When the film was first accepted, he said on Twitter that he planned to pick a distributor right there in the room after the screening. Everyone (including me) thought that meant he’d auction...
